Ybbs

Beat: Ybbs B II/3

Our beat of the Ybbs river is located close to the city of Amstetten an has a total length of 9.6 km. It is divided into three stretches, with stretch 2 being a fly-only zone.

Borders

The beat reaches from the bridge at Allersdorf (lower border) up to the former mill “Haidmühle”, which is located around 200 m upstream of the hydropower plant at Hausmening (upper boarder). Besides the main river, the lower 600 m of the tributary Url river (rivermouth up to the weir) are also part of beat, as well as the hydropower channel of the hydro powerplant Amstetten, which has a total length of around 1.5 km. Note: fishing in the channel is forbidden in the direct surrounding of the power plant (between the bridge and the rake).

 

Fish of the Ybbs

The beat is located at the ecological border of hyporhithral to epipotamal. 

 The following species can be caught:

  • Brown trout (Salmo trutta)

  • Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

  • Grayling (Thymallus thymallus)

  • Danube salmon (Hucho hucho)

  • Barbel (Barbus barbus)

  • Chub (Leuciscus cephalus)

  • Northern pike (Esox lucius)

  • Carp (Cyprinus carpio)

  • Nase (Chondrostoma nasus)
